Halloween Cleaning Tips!

Halloween Cleaning Tips- So You Don’t
Frighten Your Guests Away!

Halloween Parties are the one time of the year cobwebs are seasonably in fashion!   I love this time of year, Caramel apples, apple cider and candy!   Busy people like myself, can hardly find the time to clean, let alone throw a Halloween party or trick or treat get together!. It's no secret, people tend to judge our home by the way it looks and smells.

When entertaining this Halloween, we all want out homes to look as impressive as possible, because it is a nice reflection on us and it makes the guests feel more comfortable. Sometimes I wish I was "Bewitched" and all I had to do was look cute and twinkle my nose and the whole house would be clean!  If you feel overwhelmed at times when it comes to cleaning up your home, this month's 5 easy tips focus on what your guests will see!  Don't worry about cleaning closets and organizing drawers, guests don't even notice them!

I like to  decorate my house to look frightfully spooky and incredibly fun at the same time.  However, those REAL cobwebs, where REAL spiders live really need to come down out of our corners and ceilings so we really "don't" frighten the guests away!   If you think you can skip the cleaning and let the cobwebs stay up for a little more ambience, rest assured your guests will know the difference between artificial cobwebs used to decorate and real cobwebs that you just have neglected to clean!

Follow these quick tips so your guests feel like they are in a "Boo"tiful home!

Cleaning before the Company comes!---Here's the Five Signs of a Clean Home!

1. What Guests SEE.   Do a visual sweep of the room with your eyes.  Stand at your front entry door and look around the room, what looks cluttered and untidy?  Be sure to straighten couch pillows, remove clutter like shoes, magazines and messy shelves.

Guests see your floors the minute they enter  your home.  A dirty floor says, "dirty house" to guests!  Keep your floors clean in just minutes with Quick Shine® Multi-Surface Spray Mop   It cleans better than a traditional mop and bucket!  With the cleaner on board you can spray your way to clean in minutes.   .

2. What Guests can FEEL.  Do your floors feel dirty on gritty on your bare feet?   If so, use the Quick Shine Hardwood Floor mop dry to give you a clean you can feel, it does clean better than a traditional broom and dustpan.

 3.  What Guests TOUCH.  Pass the white glove test!  Nothing is worse than a dusty coffee table, bookshelf or mantle.  Dust is a sure sign you have been slacking a little on the cleaning!  Dust first and vacuum last.  Unless you have a horrible vacuum that blows dust back in the air, then dust last.

4.  What Guests SMELL . If you have pets, or a fish smell from last night’s dinner, it can send an offensive smell to your guests the moment they walk through your front door.  To get your home smelling great, ask a friend to tell you how your home smells.  Studies have shown the nose adapts to certain smells after time. Your house may smell good to you, but to your guests, it could smell like a litter box.  I like to use a Pine scented cleaner like Hexol, it makes your home smell clean and disinfected the minute guests hit the front door!

5. What Guests see that SHINES.  A dull sink fixture, streaky mirror, and dull floor can make your house look unsightly.  Take the time to buff your sink fixtures, shine your stainless steel surfaces and clean front entry glass, and don't forget the bathroom mirrors.  Let your home shine!

Halloween Night Spooktacular Tips!

Halloween is one of my favorite days of the year! It's the official start of  the first Fall holiday with warm, tantalizing aromas wafting through the air in the kitchen. Pumpkin bread, muffins, pie  ahhh....the smells.  My husband loves this time of year also!  We tend to over decorate, over bake and over indulge on anything chocolate!

Your little ghosts and goblins may go to more parties than just one, and let's face it, they can come home pretty messy and worn out!   Here's some tips to help make your Halloween season stress free this year!

TRICK OR TREATER Tips for Parents

1. Removing face paint and makeup – Baby oil will work gently and remove even the scariest goblin's face without complaints.  No tears I promise!

2. Make-up from clothing
– For those messy little trick-or-treaters who are sure to rub their noses with a sleeve, don't stress. Just use a little orange oil cleaner to pre-treat the clothing and gently work-in before laundering.  Tide to Go pen works wonders too!

3. Avoid bumps and bruises – Make sure your children's costumes do not drag on the ground, potentially causing them to trip and fall. Hold hems up with safety pins to ensure a safer walk for your child.  Who wants a skinned knee and bloody elbow, when they are working on their candy mission?

4. Stop tummy aches before they start – Make sure your child has a full tummy and no spicy foods prior to eating their trick-or-treat candy!  Rolaids or tums work great.  Keep soda pops and sugary drinks out of their reach.

5. Don't forget the old tale about poison candy – Before your children eat any of their trick-or-treat candy; always check the wrappers to make sure nothing looks suspicious. Throw anything away that you are unsure of. Have your children help in this process so that they understand its importance.  If you want to keep all your favorite chocolate bars from their loot, then do the candy screening in private.  What kids don’t know won’t hurt them!

6. Yuk! Sick Kid Fallout –
Every year at least one little goblin in your group will experience a green face and a quick trip to vomit in the restroom (if they can make it there!). For quick clean up, scrape up with a  dust pan and a spatula and flush away as much as possible down the toilet. For carpets use a mild dish detergent with cold water and clean, absorb the liquid with a cotton towel. To prevent bacteria and odors, use an enzyme cleaner.  For clothing quick action with cold water and mild dish detergent should stop any staining.

MY PERSONAL VEGAN SMART CHALLENGE THIS SUMMER! I FELT REALLY EMPOWERED!!

Laura Dellutri Dishes About the 21-Day VeganSmart Challenge

Need some motivation to get started with the the 21-Day VeganSmart Eat Smart Cleanse? Laura Dellutri, Home and  Life Style Expert , gives us some inspiration by sharing how magnificent and empowered she feels by doing the VeganSmart Challenge.

Being a triathlete and a cyclist, good health and nutrition is of utmost importance to Laura who began the VeganSmart Cleanse on July 7th after the holiday celebrations fizzled out. Laura was training for a triathlon, and wanted to do the challenge because it was time for a change and she wanted to do something to really benefit her body.

After eating vegan, Laura has felt more energetic, empowered, lighter, and healthier. After meals she is totally full and satisfied without feeling bloated or like she overate. VeganSmart allows for portion control and makes Laura’s stomach feel full faster than other foods she has eaten in the past.
When asked if Laura has cravings for non-vegan food, such as pizza or ice cream, her response was simply no. Laura gives credit to the lemon blast drink or coconut water for curbing any slight cravings that may sneak up. She did mention salt cravings after cycling, but she quickly found that craving to be satisfied by a handful of nuts or sunflower seeds.
To replenish her muscles after cycling, Laura’s first stop is grabbing VeganSmart protein powder. Chocolate is her flavor of choice and she loves it because it never makes her feel bloated and doesn’t cause bad breath, which she has experienced with other protein powders. The amount of protein packed in VeganSmart powder impressed Laura as well.
Participating the in VeganSmart 21-Day Cleanse is an empowering and encouraging lifestyle choice. It is difficult to control many things in our busy lives, such stress at work or at home. By doing the VeganSmart Challenge, you are truly in control of what you are putting in your body, which is “clean,” non-processed foods, such as vegetables, fruits, nuts, grains, and seeds.

Multitasking Millennial Mom Spring Cleaning Hacks

By Laura Dellutri

Spring Cleaning?  How can you fit that in your busy life? Here's the secret.... Multi-tasking by minutes.  You do it every day of your life.   Think about it, you feed the baby, while you read Buzz Feed while holding your 3 year old who is playing Angry birds on your smartphone, while you are eating a sandwich.  4 tasks in less than a minute!  You are savvy, and part of the best multi-tasking generation ever.  You can Spring Clean your home by incorporating cleaning minutes into your daily multi-tasking routines.

Gone are the days of all day Spring Cleaning. Don't feel pressed to meet Mom's or Grandma's expectations. It's your home, your world, and it is totally different than theirs was. Do what you can, when you can.  Stand at the front door and look at your home visually.  How does it look? Does it smell odor free?  Get those two things under control and you will appear domesticated and spiffy to guests.

Look at it like you are shopping on Amazon for an Iron Man Mask for your Super Hero. You can do that whole transaction in less than 5 minutes.  That's all you need is 5 minutes and your house will become magically cleaned in small increments by multi-tasking.

If you have been feeling pressed about cleaning, incorporate these tips in your multi-tasking day and be sure to SHARE me with all your social media friends!

5 EVERYDAY TIPS TO HELP YOU LOSE WEIGHT

 Your  2015 Weight Resolutions...

It's Jan 27, 2015 and that is just about 4 weeks into the year, a time to take stock and reflect on our New Year's resolutions.   Was your resolution losing weight?  How is that going? I keep losing 4 pounds and gaining 3 pounds back.  It's time to get serious and keep it off.  Going to restaurants for dinner or on the road, is causing me to stumble.  The menu and I, we just don't work together on healthy choices.  FRENCH FRIES is the only thing I see on the menu.  The healthy items bore me, and I skim right over them when it comes to dinner choices.

If you are struggling too, and need some extra motivation to take off that next 5 pounds, try these tips!

Here are my top 5 tips to help you love your scale and not hate it!

1.  Eat your largest meal before 2 PM.  After that stave off hunger with 100 calorie options like fruit, veggies and yogurt.  Give your body less, as your metabolism slows down at night.

2.    Keep your portions the size of your palm.  Yes, less is best.  One pound is 3500 calories. Do the math.

3.  Drink 8 glasses of water a day.  Yes, 8.

4.  Exercise, exercise, exercise!  Start a new fitness routine, increase endurance and move forward with a goal of being fit for life. Stay off the couch for hours, if you must watch TV, do it while you are lifting weights, riding a stationary bike, or doing sit ups.

5. Self Talk yourself up!  You are a champion, tell yourself that over and over again when you feel like quitting.  Rebuke your negative thinking, let nothing stop you, not even you.

PS. And, I am staying out of restaurants that serve French fries!

SNOWSTORMS. BLIZZARDS. TORNADOES. HOW PREPARED ARE YOU?

BE PREPARED for an Emergency this Season!

It’s no secret that natural disasters like tornadoes, floods, hurricanes and thunderstorms are more apt to happen in the spring season. Blizzards, ice storms and snowstorms in the winter season.  Even if you don’t live in an area that is known for Mother Nature’s wrath, many cities still experience power outages on a regular basis. What can you do to be prepared? Check out this list and make sure you get your emergency kit together today!

1. Flashlights.  There is nothing worse than waking up in the middle of the night in total darkness. Make sure your batteries are fresh periodically with the Duracell Battery Tester. Keep flashlights under every mattress in every bedroom of your home. This will keep your family from fumbling in the dark!

2. Keep a survival kit in place for emergencies. You can find a variety of affordable survival kits. Inform everyone in the family of the kit's whereabouts. Pack a kit that can be easily thrown into your car in the event you need to leave your home. Include cash, (ATM's and banks will not work in a major power outage) basic toiletries, light weight can goods and nonperishable food, water, change of clothing, money, prescriptions, waterproof matches, can opener, pillows, and heat warming blankets. Inflatable mattresses may be a good purchase if you are stuck in a shelter/building without beds. Most kits have a 3 day supply of emergency ration bars and water. www.lifegearproducts.com

3. Purchase a Weather Alert unit and solar radio. La Crosse Technology offers state of the art internet powered satellite assisted forecasts. Now you can get your own up to the minute weather report! You can also buy a solar radio weather monitor that works without batteries. Solar runs without batteries and saves energy! I like the LaCross Technology weather alerts.
You can find them at www.lacrossetechnology.com

4. Prepare an emergency plan with your family. Have a meeting place or designated place to stay other then your home. Don’t forget important documents, medicines, prescriptions, birth certificates, and medical information.  Text or email yourself important information.

5. Invest in a generator. This is extremely important if you have anyone in your home using life support systems or oxygen. Generators are powered by gasoline and can generate carbon monoxide gas, so only use them outdoors where the fumes will not cause illness. Never plug power generators into your home's main electrical panel as this may result in serious injury or death to utility personnel working to restore power. Instead, plug the generator directly into the appliance you wish to use during the outage.

6. Get an emergency cell phone charger. A dead phone, means no contact with friends, family and loved ones. You may not be able to plug in your cell phone, don‘t take chances! Make a small investment in an emergency cell phone charger.

7. Keep freezer and refrigerator doors closed, to prevent the loss of cold air. Each time you open the door, you let the cold air out. It is best to get ice chest full of ice for storage. Plan on a fully load freezer keeping food fresh for about 6-12 hours. Remember, keep putting bags of ice in your refrigerator or ice chest to prevent temperature climbing above 45 degrees. If the temperature goes above 45 degrees for more than two hours, it's time to throw out the food.

How can you be better prepared if your freezer ever stopped working, due to power failure or breakdown?

Check out this innovative product you can find at www.FreezCube.com Only FreezCube provides you with the information you need to ensure your family's frozen food safety.
You get 3-way protection with FreezCube:
1 - Time remaining for safe food consumption: Shows the number of days frozen food will be safe to use when the temperature in the freezer has exceeded 0°F/-18°C*.
2 - Normal operation: Confirms that your freezer temperature is at 0°F / -18°C or lower**.
3 - Power Failure: Indicates if unsafe thawing has occurred.
How it works: As your freezer's temperature increases, the four colored liquids melt independently. The melted liquid in each chamber shows the time remaining to safely consume your frozen foods, or if they must be discarded immediately:

BLUE = 14 daysGREEN = 3 days
YELLOW = 1 dayRED = Discard immediately!

8. Keep bottled water on hand for emergencies. Bottled water should be stored up both in gallon jugs and small bottles that are easily transportable. If you do have to leave your home you may need a portable potty. Check out www.quakecare.com for a 5 gallon bucket that turns into a port-a-potty. With Back Pack Toilet included! When you got to go, you got to go!

9. Keep tissues, antibacterial soap and wet wipes in your kit, hot water may not be available. A box of Puffs and some paper towels can also become a precious commodity in a power outage.
Being without electricity is rough -- being without tissue or TP  in a power outage is  making a bad situation even worse!

10. Purchase an emergency light with an alarm.   It  will notify you of a power outage immediately.
